Prior to the 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs, the league tasked us with building a replica of The Philip F. Anschutz Trophy, the two-foot silver sculpture awarded to each season’s MLS Cup winner.
While a true-to-size copy of the trophy is fabricated for every new champion, the league requested this version be made bigger—much bigger.
It’s traveled the continent for three straight playoff seasons and counting. In 2017, it visited Toronto and Seattle. The following year, it delighted soccer fans at three locations in Atlanta. In 2019, it spent time in Los Angeles before landing in Seattle prior to the Cup match between the Seattle Sounders and Toronto FC.
