Our task

EMC Research chose us as their partner to arrange and execute boots-on-the-ground intercept surveying on behalf of Central Ohio Transit Authority. They sought user data to study as part of an organizational initiative to learn more about COTA riders and enhance operational efficiencies.

We were tasked with developing an activation plan to gather the most accurate data possible from a representative pool of COTA users.

Surveyor says

To achieve wide-reaching representation, teams of eight-to-ten brand ambassadors were deployed seven days a week between the hours of 6am and 11pm for one full month. Each was provided official COTA credentials, a tablet loaded with survey tech and a stack of day-pass giveaways. Free bus passes were distributed to each rider who completed the five-minute anonymous survey.

Our surveying team was hired and trained with specific focuses for this activation. For example, each brand ambassador was coached to effectively address accessibility and language barriers, as well as behavioral challenges.

Further establishing the data’s integrity, surveyors were directed to approach every third rider, no matter the circumstance.
